I watched a video of interviewing foreigners in China on the street, realized that people are taking Chinese learning more seriously now. Let’s see what they say.

'Are more and more foreigners learning Chinese?' The interviewer asked two people from the Uk. One woman from said Edinburg responded ‘there are a lot of students studying Mandarin at the university there.’  The other interviewee works in China, he believes that more and more foreigners are learning Chinese and a lot of his colleagues are studying their Chinese lessons now.  Another Mexican student said in Mexico, more foreigners speak Chinese now because it’s a new language for the world. His sister is learning Chinese as well because she is working in a company that needs Chinese.  A woman from Canada said being from Canada, it would probably be a good idea to learn Chinese because there are a lot more Chinese people there than we realize.

The interviewer also asked if they think learning Chinese is important.  The British interviewee answered ‘I think learning Chinese absolutely is important if you really want to engage with Chinese teams, Chinese customers, or colleagues friends. You have to learn at least a bit of local language.’  ‘China is becoming a bigger trade partner with a lot of countries and there is more cultural exchange between Western countries. It is really important that English isn’t just the only language that we interact with, because a lot of Chinese people maybe don’t know English, so to have both of them is really important.’ The woman from Edindbirg responded. ‘learning any language as a second language is important for anybody, it just gives you more advantage, no matter where you go.  For me, if I speak Chinese I would be doing much better here in China’Canadian woman said.  ‘I think there is a whole world of arts and culture in China, that you could experience if you speak Chinese’ ‘i think it’s more and more important to learn Chinese, also maybe to do some business, to work, to study, for many reasons.’......

What they said it’s so true, if you live in a country as a foreigner, it’s only going be beneficial to you if you can speak their language, it’s going to help you to understand the people, the local culture more. You will make more friends and fit in better with society.
